Poem: Fanning the flame within
You have it.
You know it’s there.
That spark of inspiration.
That flame of passion.
That energy that smolders at times
But other times climbs to high heights.
That flame can take you places.
It’s fueled by your desires,
By your inherent abilities,
By your internal engine.
Sometimes it gets so cold
That you think it all died out.
When that happens, just breathe.
Oxygen strengthens fire, don’t forget.
If anyone ever tries to put your fire out,
Fan that flame to expand it again.
That strength to ignite comes from within.
Nothing can truly put it out.
Find what fuels it,
That match that kindles the fire,
Those things that heat up your inspiration,
That melt the wax of creativity.
Take stock of those things,
Use them as resources.
No one’s flame is exactly the same,
Nor the fuel for the fire.
The only thing that’s the same
Is that it lives within us all.
The spark inside can become a blaze,
A blaze that travels down its own unique path.
Your fire within
Can become a wildfire without,
Providing heat and warmth for those around,
Leaving a permanent mark.
Your fire will travel,
Igniting the sparks of others,
Who in turn will have flames,
Who will repeat the same.
Set your fire ablaze,
And the world will start to change.
That energy will catch on.
So to spread that light,
It starts with your action to ignite.
